Living with Intention
In a world filled with turmoil and uncertainty, many of us are left wondering: How can we focus on peace amidst the chaos and cruelty? How do we create harmony when it feels as though the world is so divided?
Many spiritual teachers tell us that the most radical act we can take is to love. By living with loving compassion as a daily practice, we actively choose peace, standing against harm in both small and significant ways. But what does it mean to live intentionally?
Recently, I had a conversation with one of our Findhorn Essence Practitioners, Vicky Marston, about her activism for peace. She mentioned how some peace protest marches have become unsafe here in the UK. As a mother of three, I realised that I now approach my peace practice in a more inward way – through my work, my family, and how I choose to live each day with intention.
What Is Living with Intention?
Living with intention doesn’t require a formal spiritual or religious practice. It’s a conscious choice we make every day – to wake with an open heart, to accept life as it is, and to act in ways that align with our personal values. To keep fighting for peace in whatever way feels right for us – in a small way at home, or out on the streets. For some, this may mean being active in their communities, while for others, it may be an inward journey of peace, forgiveness, and healing.
For me, forgiveness has played a significant role in my own healing. Recently, when faced with anger – whether personal or global – I found myself unsure of how to process it.
Using Sacred Energy Room Mist as an aura spray has really helped shift my thinking. The mint is particularly powerful in creating a scent experience that allows me to SHIFT. Following with the Calm Me Down Combination Flower Essence helps bring me back to a grounded state.
Only when I am in a more calm state, do I feel ready to embrace the essence and room mist of abundance; PROSPERITY. I’ve been using this to manifest the peace I want to see daily, in my work, in my home and on a global scale. The grapefruit is wakeful. For me, it sends a message that says “wake up humanity!”
It’s a reminder that peace starts with the way I live my life daily and the energy I bring to the world.
Small Steps Toward Intention
Living with intention means recognising that while we can’t control everything, we can control how we respond and how we shape our own lives. We are the masters of our own ships, the pilots of our own course. There are many things we can change by taking small, daily steps to come more into alignment with our own vision.
Holding a clear vision of the values we are striving for, such as recycling more, taking care of the nature where we live, being proactive in our own health, or speaking with more kindness … brings us closer to living an authentic life with intention.
As I celebrated my 41st birthday last week, I reflected on how each year I feel a little closer to ‘walking my talk.’ It’s not about embarking on a grand mission; it’s about the small, intentional choices we make every day. It’s found in the company we keep, the words we speak, and the way we choose to think.
Mindfulness and Humour in Daily Life
One practice I’ve found invaluable is ‘catching’ my thoughts. When I notice myself spiralling – whether it’s due to the state of the world or the mundane tasks of daily life – I remind myself to come back to my inner peace. With a deep sense of humour. I literally say to myself “Iona, you are going down the Alice in Wonderland tunnel again! Wake up!”
When I feel I am spinning at the state of the world or the endless laundry in my house, I choose to steer my thoughts back home, to that inner, sacred place of peace. I spray Sacred Energy Room Mist and take a few drops of Calm Me Down Essence. These simple rituals ground me in the present and remind me that while I am human, with all the feelings that come with it, I also have the power to shift my thoughts and balance my inner and outer worlds.
Ultimately, living with intention means choosing to express loving compassion every day. Whether through our actions, thoughts, or energy, we can bring peace into our lives and the world, one moment at a time.
With Love & Light,
Iona
